For several years I have been trying to get information on a artifact which I have been led to believe is a "Crew" Badge commemorating the flight of the Hindenburg in which it visited the four cities of Lakehurst, Friedrichshafen,Tokio and Los Angeles. Mine is about 1 and 3/4 inches in diameter and has a blue enamel ring round it on which the cities are listed. The center is bronze and is an image of the world with an overlay of the Hindenburg. I recently saw the same, but with a white enamel ring advertised as "original". One might surmise that white was for officers and blue was for enlisted men. I would like to know the history and the issuance if possible. The German makers mark is FLL. I have not been able to get any response from so called authorities I have written to. If you can provide me with a resource or if you have knowledge of this badge it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You / David Gillespie

Wow. That is something you don’t forget. I remember sitting in 4th grade, in the cafeteria, watching on a bunch of TV’s as the space shuttle Columbia lifted off for the first time. It was amazing. And I also remember in high school, when someone ran into the auditorium screaming that Challenger had exploded. These things stick with you.

Pity we didn't know about this a few years sooner - we could have staged a Hindenburg Chasers' Reunion!

As it is, I can't help a little quiet satisfaction knowing that Blair and Cookie got there first. ;-)
